Jeremy Sear, a lawyer and pro-Greens blogger has stood up for the Greens Party preferencing an anti-Muslim, anti-Choice independent candidate in Essendon.
“Sometimes, on balance, Labor is even worse than a slightly anti-choice independent.”
According to Sear, is it better for the Greens Party to preference the anti-Choice candidate in question – Paul Guiliano – than a member of the Victorian Labor Party. The Labor Party recently decriminalised abortion in Victoria, in a major step forward for womens’ rights over their own bodies.
The Greens Party candidate said to Crikey:
Iser defended the decision to preference Giuliano when contacted byCrikey this morning: ”Paul and I have been on council so we have worked together over that time, our policies always don’t always align but we have very good working relationship … if Paul happened to be successful in Essendon I would be able to take ideas and concerns to him. I know he would be far more welcoming of those of Mr Madden or the Liberal candidate.
“I also think that [due to] Mr Madden’s performance in planning that it’s very difficult for the Greens to give him our second preference in the seat of Essendon.”
This shows how out of touch the Greens Party are with their progressive supporters. Obsessed with local council, Greens Party candidates like Rose Iser think planning is more important than womens’ control over their own bodies.
But it’s not just this Greens Party candidate standing by her anti-Choice mate Guiliano over this issue. Guiliano made headlines recently for spreading anti-Muslim emails to council staff. Guiliano forwarded an email that read:
“We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!
“Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools.
“If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.
“This is our country, our land and our lifestyle and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this.
“But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about our flag, our pledge, our Christian beliefs, or our way of life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, ‘the right to leave’.”
This is pretty vile stuff, and I am amazed that Iser has a “working relationship” with someone who promotes anti-Choice propaganda and sends out hate-emails of this kind.
What’s more, Guiliano opposes a price on carbon or the closure of coal fired power plants, according to his website.
Jeremy Sear is a known anti-Labor bigot who regularly publishes personal attacks against progressive Labor women. While he accuses his political opponents of not living up to the impossibly high standards he sets them, he constantly justifies the gross hypocrisy of his favoured Greens political party – and their candidates when the preference anti-Choice, anti-Muslim candidates.
I think it is now clear that Jeremy Sear is not in any way left-wing. He has become one of the lowest forms of Internet life – a troll – whose sole purpose is to incite loathing and bile on as many forums as he can.
I’m pretty cheesed off that Jeremy not only appears to have edited my comments over at his Crikey blog, but he also seems to have held up in moderation some of my comments.
