Social Media for Unions

Engaging members and potential members can be a challenging proposition for many unions – it isn’t always easy to know where to start or how to get things right.
I want to share my experiences with using social media in a trade union context with you. Unions are no longer reliant on old, traditional forms of media. Increasingly, our members and potential members are using social networks like Facebook and Twitter. Unions can use social media to directly engage with hundreds or even thousands of people at once.
Like any endeavour, using social media effectively requires practice, trial-and-error, and some good advice.
That’s where this e-book comes in. I’ve put together some of the most popular and useful articles from my website into a single resource for unions to use.
Inside this 11 page free e-book, you will find:
- An explanation of the principles of social media
- Best practice use of Facebook for unions
- Tips and techniques for unions to Twitter
Right now, I use the tips and techniques in this book in my job as the NTEU (VIC) Communications and Campaigns coordinator. The advice in this e-book is from tried-and-true from my own experience.
