There are more than 1.15 billion people with a Facebook account in 2013, and over 618 million people use it daily. This platform offers more than just a way to stay connected to friends and family; it is an essential tool in the campaigning and communications toolbox.
Facebook allows your union to be available to people on a trusted, popular platform, where members and supporters can see “real” people (their friends, family and coworkers) interacting with your union.
This chapter, Facebook for Unions, is a preview for you to see the kind of material that will be in Unionify.
Facebook is not the only social network I cover in Unionify. I also look at Twitter, LinkedIn, blogging and Tumblr, photosharing sites like Instagram and Flickr, and how to develop your social media campaign strategies and plans.
